Stolen goods (Prometheus), 2021

“Stolen Goods” with Helga Wretman på Olseröds Konsthall.

The title of the exhibition is based on the myth of how Prometheus stole the fire from Hephaestus and the art from Athena and gave these skills to mankind. The exhibition does not illustrate the myth, but rather addresses the artist's double-edged relation to the personal creativity.

Everything is already done. The only change is time and with it the meaning of it.
What once made sense, means something different today. Accordingly must everything be expressed again and again, afresh, afresh, afresh . . . im Ewigkeit!

Fire is a condition of the creative process as well as for the survival of mankind. Do we have to thank Prometheus for this? Was it maybe indeed a disservice? Is fire and creativity causing the decline of civilisation? We observe a surrounding world in chaos and flames, physically and ethically. The answer may come faster than we can imagine . . .
